mongoowl collects the cpu and I/O status by using the SNMP protocol through the SNMP service installed on mongodb server. But to do that, you need to install the SNMP service and shellscript to collect cpu and iostat status. Even if you don’t install something like the SNMP or shellscript, you can still monitor the mongostat information of a currently running mongodb. The way which mongoowl acquire mongo instance’s status is similar to the way which mongostat command does.
Thus, the load is about the same.
Rather, the load of web browser to draw live graph could be a burden.A mongoowl had no above problem in Safari on MAC OS 10.8 Lions. We have not been tested on MAC OS 10.9 Mavericks, but if the above problem occurs consistently, it is recommended that you try to use other browsers. We will inform you as soon as possible to solution of the above problems.

The problem is the issue of access URL. I think that access URL is wrong, even though mongoowl started successfully. You must be accessed to http://localhost:8080/mongoowl/, not http://localhost:8080/.
The problem of access URL will be fixed in the next version.
